Getting back on the topic of behind the scenes of body art photo shoots. As it was recently, today we've got some random photos from different sources, showing female models being turned into... pieces of art. In this post we'll focus on body casting works - where model's body plays as a mold to create statue. Astonishing effects of such works were mentioned in recent post about 1000 Mermaids project.
It's intriguing to watch as the model patiently goes through complex process: from covering with anti-adhesive agent (silicone, alginate, oil or other), applying the plaster, waiting motionlessly until it sets solid and finally releasing... Looking from technical side, it's a hell of a work along for a model and the crew. And there's still much more to do in order to turn raw plaster mold into nice piece of art that is worth to look at.
From the perverted side, one can notice that during all this time woman is at some level reduced to a material - she can't control situation, letting other people to touch her naked body and is forced to relay on artist will, especially in stage when she is helplessly encased in solid shell... And this is why I found this topic so exciting...
Probably you'll know some of the pictures, as they were already published on the Female Body Fetish Tumblr blog.
Covering with anti-adhesive, before plastering. If not, the set cast would get crack easily during removal. Not to mention that releasing the model would be more problematic...
Casting the torso during live show
Studio works. Notice the finished pieces on the wall...
Must be unconfortable. At least for a model...
Work of 3D Perceptions. With that shiny black coating she is already an art...
Pose that turns on imagination...
Interesting detail
I hope it didn't take long. Or did...
Some older images here. Nude model is covered head to toe: first with some alginate or silicone, then with plaster. Hard to say how long whole operation last:
Artist Lorraine Franco shared footage from making of casting. Her model is being completely covered with plaster. Basically, it is nice idea for some public performance itself. I can imagine: Model is fully encased, then just left like that for hour or two before releasing, so the public can just enjoy the view, take selfies or anything... Imagination is running...
