It's good to be a poet...

What might poetry and body painting have in common? Nothing. Or a lot if you insist. This conclusion can be drawn from an event that took place over five years ago, in a club for the artistic people in Sopot, Poland. I found an interesting account of the event on the local news portal trojmiasto.pl.

In February 2017, a certain Wladyslaw Zaporowski - a writer, poet, happener, etc. read his poems to the public "in a rather euphoric way" - according to the source. Then, however, he turned from a poet into a painter. On the club stage, he painted the bodies of three completely naked girls, using only paints and his fingers...

When asked by a reporter what was the message of his art, he replied:
"Energy. Life energy. The energy of humanism. It was energy. It was just energy. Not painting. Painting was just an excuse to transmit energy. You have to admit, what you saw was not pornography. It was an art. You've seen the naked bodies of girls, but in some unusual configuration. Let me tell you, I didn't feel they were women at all. While painting, I observe the form and build weights with colors. It seems to be seemingly chaotic, but notice that it made a visual sense, even though it was predatory."

I have no idea what his poems are about, nor do I know what his weird facewear has to do with art. But I like the way he combined poetry with an erotic performance that, as we already know, wasn't pornography.

Finally, a screenshot. The artist in advance took care of the appropriate attendance and recorded a short video with an invitation to his event. You would come, right? Or maybe just start writing poems...

A short report from the event can be viewed on the trojmiasto.pl website.
