The woman, plaster and illusion
We have talked a lot about the activities of the outstanding Polish artist Marek Sulek. Regular readers of the blog already know his disturbing and suggestive works - living sculptures and body painting actions. But Mr. Sulek still does not cease to amaze with his ideas. Some time ago, on his profile in social media, he presented another installment in the series of disposable statues. The action called "One Use Sculpture 2021A" took place in Warsaw on February 27.

This installation has a really strange vibe... |
The theme is already known to us: a naked woman, covered with blue paint, is trapped in a dried plaster shell. However, this time, the artist, apart from the content, also decided to take care of a very unusual form: The room in which the action takes place has been prepared in a way to give the illusion that the model is resting on her pedestal in an upside down position. The impression is completed with multimedia, also reversed:
A short film presents an attempt to get the model out of a plaster shell - going down from the "ceiling" and standing on her feet:
The above photos and film by Marek Sulek and Jarek Sadkowski. To keep in touch with reality, the screenshots of the film are placed in the right position...
The question remains - how should a living sculpture be built so that it could really be placed the upside down? See another author's performance, by the way...
