Paint against inequality?
Today about The Human Spectrum project. This is the flagship work of the American Ansarov Studios from Florida. Contrary to what we are used to, it does not involve taking pictures of professional models at all, but of random people selected for the project. In a nutshell - Ansarov covers naked models with colorful paints, pours water on them and photographs the resulting mosaic.
The idea seems to have an ideological basis. The author himself, Aaron Ansarov, writes on his website:
"Our culture is diverse. Yet our society insists on breaking us apart. Of course one cannot immediately tell a person's religion, sexual preference or political affiliation by sight, but what is always apparent is the color of our skin and this tends to be just enough to make someone be judged".
However, the artist has a way around it. The paints:
"When everyone is covered in vibrant colors, we can then all be the same. The water represents commercial society's need to wash this color away in order to catalog us again. The final image is a representation of how we can feel at our best before the paint is washed away".
In other words - colored paints make all models the same. I am not an enthusiast of equating everyone with everyone, so fashionable these days. The world would be boring if it wasn't for the differences between people. Fortunately, we cannot get bored watching the works of Aaron Ansarov. With one interpretation or another, they have a wonderful load of eroticism, given in a beautiful artistic form.
The models are covered in different colors, in a completely random way, and rain falls on their bodies, which makes all the colors mixed with each other even more. Combined with the lighting, it gives a great result. For us viewers, an additional erotic flavor is that many of the photos are group shots. Models are portrayed in different numbers and combinations: female-female and female-male.
The work was created more or less in 2014-2015. After that, the photos were featured in autothematic exhibitions.
The artist also shows numerous behind-the-scenes photos. Here are some examples of how The Human Spectrum came to be:
The creation process is also documented in the film. Here are some of the most interesting frames:
The full version can be seen on Ansarov's profile on YouTube. Personally, I really liked this part:
Of course, I'm shallowing The Art now. But in Private Deviations nomenclature, we'd say The Human Spectrum is a very successful combination of erotica, bodypainting and wet and messy.
If you liked the work of Ansarov Studios, don't forget to check out their social media, such as Twitter or Instagram. There are many interesting materials and other projects, not necessarily so erotic.
This is amazing, would love to experience this art!! 👍🏽
