"Body Splash" series by Toffoletti

Female form, photography and painting. All that combined in one. This time on Private Deviations we'll take a closer look on works of Italian artist Pier Toffoletti.

"Painted figures, most of them female, become an integral part of the background with just a few strokes of the brush. In an interview for the November 2004 issue of the Japanese art magazine Art Pictorial, Pier revealed that the subject - woman - is a pretext for a representation of the natural essence that lies deep in all of us. It is nature stripped of all prejudice or disguise" - we read on artist's website.

Toffoletti's works are some kind of combination of artistic nude photography, painting and bodyart. Silhouette of the model, color, background and the facture leaved by brush - all that appears to be merged together in abstract and dynamic way. Works of Pier Toffoletti are grouped in Body Splash and Face Splash series. He is also creator of live performances referring to those series. And this article is mainly just about them.

Live shows were created using canvas mounted on gallery wall and the female body. After creating random but somehow complex painting on the canvas, he used the same arbitrary way to bodypaint his model. I the result, the woman appeared to partially "dissapear" in the whole painting, turning into it's integral part. The set below is from "Live Painting 2013" show:
