Remember that (sweet) movie?

Oh Yes! This time we'll get back to classic. A scene which wet and messy fans remembers well, but not always knows where it's from. 1974 production of Yugoslav director Dusan Makavejev "Sweet Movie". You probably know it thanks to beautiful Carole Laure and her chocolate bath scene. Without exaggeration one can say, that her performance set the canons for WAM world.

Movie plot is weird. A figment of twisted mind and honestly, I don't even know if I want to watch it from soup to nuts. In brief: Miss Canada (portrayed by mentioned Carole Laure) wins "Most Virgin Miss" competition. The prize is marriage with absurdly rich businessman from milk industry (didn't know one can make billions on milk, BTW). Unfortunately, their first night together turned out to be more than dissapointing and bride decides to left her husband. This leads to a series of disastrous events.

Additional plot (but not as much interesting for us here), is the story of Anna Planeta - some kind of socialist activist and believer of Karl Marx. She lives on her boat, where she allures and kills young boys. In one of the scenes she stabs her lover while laying in tube filled with sugar. Sick woman, to be clear...

Sweet Movie is considered as controversial, not only because of its explicit eroticism but also due to other things, not worthy to mention. Production received mixed reviews. There are also different interpretations: some of the audience finds that the picture is criticism on totalitarian systems, others sees it as a bitter satire on consumerism, yet another find it's just an artistic way to trigger the shock. The only thing we can agree: This movie, despite it's title, is definetely not sweet.

      

As mentioned, the part of Miss Virginity felt to a Canadian actress Carole Laure. Born on 5 August 1948, at the time of shooting she was 26 years old and already had cinema experience. During the filming of "Sweet Movie" she gave up her role after filming a scene when she rubs actor's penis to her face. She eventually decided to come back after the script was rewrited.

Choc bath is one of the final scenes of entire movie. After all her misfortunes, Miss Virginity returns to where she tried to escape from - she is playing a major part in a candy commercial filmed for her husband's company. In humiliating manner, under strict supervision of her mother-in-law, followed by stares of film crew and bystanders, girl is performing her remarkably erotic role: She's standing completely naked while the crew are pouring her with liquid chocolate. Girl smears it all over her body, then curls and rolls in a small pool, shamelessly exposing her nudity to camera. Scene ends when she finally lays in the tube and submerges her face down in the gunge - smudged beyond recognition, tired, defeated and degraded. Not a kind of ending appropriate for beautiful and innocent "Miss Virginity".
